Two state champion wrestlers from separate local towns and teams are collaborating together to bring a wrestling camp called the “Cowboy Clinic” to Soda Springs May 31-June 1.
Kolter Burton of Century High School and Tucker Bowen of Soda Springs High School have been friends since middle school wrestling brought them together.
A friendship built from simply talking at tournaments eventually led to practicing weekly in American Falls.
With the travel time from Soda Springs to American Falls, Bowen shares it was just easier to start staying with Burton after practices.
Those weekly practices eventually led to a lot of time hanging out and becoming close friends who traveled more and more together to tournaments.
Bowen and Burton are excited to bring a great wrestling camp to Soda Springs and uplift kids in the wrestling community.
Wrestling is a tough sport. Bowen shares how he hopes to encourage kids to know their potential and stick with it.
“Wrestling is one of the hardest sports out there and it gets pretty tough at times,” he said. “I want to remind kids to set goals... even if it’s not necessarily a wrestling goal. Goals are what push us to succeed.”
Burton hopes to show everyone some new and fun techniques that many will be able to use for themselves and add to their bag of moves. He would also like to highlight how fun wrestling actually is and how it’s something to be enjoyed.
This camp will be a great opportunity for a wide age range of kids.
Burton and Bowen are both attending separate colleges on scholarships this coming fall and hope to teach a lot of what made them successful to the younger kids coming up.
The price for attending the wrestling camp is $50 per athlete.
